Colour System is a science-based colour system that enables designers and manufacturers,

retailers and customers to communicate colour accurately across industries.

Most of the time, however, it is not easy to understand. To show children how an NCS works, I designed this COLOR SYSTEM. With the help of primary colours, white and black parts on plexiglass, it is easy to create different illustrative examples and colour harmonies. You always start with the primary colour. On top of this you place a plexiglass with colour components and on top of this you add the black or white component. If you wish, you can place another Plexiglas on top to make colour harmonies visible. With the help of the NCS code below, it will be child's play to understand and describe the complex colour spectrum.

1. Basic colour

We start with a primary colour, in this case yellow (Y)

2.Colour hue (chromacity)

By overlaying a film with red content, we determine the desired colour hue.Now we have the basic shade (Y) with different colour shades of red (R)

3.Black and white component

Once we have the desired hue, we search for the nuance with the second filter. The base of the triangle is the grey scale from white (W) to black (S) and the apex of the triangle is the maximum chromaticness (C) in the current hue.

If we put everything together, we have a series of colours that can be identified in the simplest way with their corresponding code. In this case, the colour is yellow with 10% red and 5% black aneil. The chromaticity of this colour is 40%.
